First Aid at Nosebleed

A bloody nose or nosebleeds can be caused by several things, for example, blow on the nose, irritation of the nasal mucous membrane as repeatedly trying to remove something from the nasal cavity, or due to infection.
According to Stanley M. Zildo as quoted from his book entitled 'First Aid, Correct Way First Aid and Emergency', Most nosebleeds that occur in children are not dangerous. But if occurs in older people or adults, this can be a serious problem and requires medical attention.
When met a bloody nose or a nosebleed, do the following:
1. Ask the victim to sit with the body leaning forward. Keep the mouth to remain open so that blood does not close the airway.
2. Squeeze the nose for 15 minutes. Press under the nose bone at the edges, remove it slowly.
3. Do not let the victim melesitkan snot. If bleeding continues, push the nose again for 5 minutes and make sure the victim does not swallow blood coming out.
4. Take a damp cloth or ice wrapped in a cloth. Stick it on the nose and the face of the victim to narrow the blood vessels.
5. If the bleeding continues and there are indications of fracture, immediately take it to the emergency care unit.
